A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU CALL
  • 1 / BE SPECIFIC

    • State what you are calling about and why you are concerned.

  • 2 / REQUEST A RESPONSE

    • "I WOULD LIKE TO RECIEVE A RESPONSE TO MY CALL"

    • Tell the staffer on the phone that you would like a response.

  • 3 / ASK FOR ACTION ITEMS

    • "Tell me, what are the representative's plans regarding this issue?"

  •  If you leave a voicemail message: Please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied. Also, it has been recommended that you call both the Congress members’ DC and District Offices.

  • you can call legislatures outside your district/ State because, after all, what they do affects us too. However, legislatures put much more weight on calls from their own constituents.

  • If you are uncomfortable calling - consider emailing them.

"Once your congressperson forms a public stance on an issue, it’s hard for them to walk it back. The earlier they hear your opinion, the more likely it is you’ll make an impact.
Calling is by far the most effective way to ensure that your representative hears you before they take a public stance."
